The best hand-held fans that you can buy on Amazon

Summer is very much upon us and in case you haven’t noticed, it is sweltering out there. If you don’t have a hand-held fan in your travel arsenal yet, the Amazon Prime Day sale is a great time to grab one.

Here are some of the TPG team’s favorite and best-reviewed portable fans that are available on Amazon and currently on sale.

Best for extra features: Jisulife Handheld Mini Fan — $14.39 (normally $24.99)

AMAZON.COM

Coming in strong with an Amazon rating of 4.6 stars out of 5, this portable fan from Jisulife is a small but mighty device that offers great value for its price.

Ergonomically designed, this device easily folds small enough to pack into a bag. It’s also rechargeable, offering between 12 and 19 hours of use, depending on which of its two settings you use. It has two great additional features: The fan houses a small flashlight and functions as a power bank that can charge your devices on the go.

Still need convincing? TPG travel reporter and theme park expert Tarah Chieffi, who frequently visits toasty Orlando, never travels without it.

“It folds up small and holds a charge for longer than any other fan I’ve tried,” she said. “I also love that I can use it to charge my phone when I am on the go.”

Best for hotel rooms: ColdSky Portable Handheld Fan — $9.99 (normally $12.99)

AMAZON.COM

The coldSky device is a compact desk fan that packs a punch but won’t clutter your hotel room’s bedside table. It’s larger than most hand-held fans (it can still fit into a tote bag), but you may want something with a little more oomph in case you accidentally book yourself into a hotel room with subpar (or no) air conditioning.

It has five speeds and a seven-blade design that will make you feel easy and breezy in no time. It also has a handy digital display that shows the remaining battery life, so you know when to recharge the device.

Best for serious wind power: Jisulife Handheld Fan — $12.99 (normally starting at $19.99)

AMAZON.COM

This stylishly designed hand-held fan can also easily stand up on a desk.

The Jisulife Handheld Fan offers up to 16 hours of battery power and is easily charged via USB. It has fewer speed settings than some other fans on this list, but its real selling point is its strength. At full speed, it can reach up to 4,400 revolutions per minute; its breeze feels like a strong wind, making it a great choice for cutting through the harshest heat waves. It also comes in various colors — millennial pink, anyone?

Best hands-free fan: FrSara Neck Fan — $23.99 (normally $46.99)

AMAZON.COM

Are you looking for something you won’t have to carry around in your hands all day but are also worried that a wearable fan sounds like a quirky steampunk contraption? Enter this neck fan by FrSara.

The device looks similar to a pair of headphones dangling around your neck when in use. Its bladeless fan design means its wind output is relatively silent — at less than 25 decibels, it’s quieter than rustling leaves — so it’s a good choice if you want something quiet. It weighs just 6.7 ounces, so you’ll be safe from neck strain.

Battery power should last between four and 16 hours, depending on which setting you prefer. It’s perfect for hikes, trips to the theme park or long, sweaty train or bus journeys.

Best for camping: Conbola Portable Camping Fan — $24.97 (normally $49.99)

AMAZON.COM

You might assume that this hefty fan would be louder than a wind tunnel, but thanks to its brushless motor and ultrathin blades, the Conbola Portable Camping Fan moves an impressive amount of air without a heavy droning noise.

It’s perfect for camping, picnics or if you happen to be in a hotel room where the air conditioning is not quite up to scratch. Its rechargeable battery can operate continuously for eight to 36 hours, depending on your settings. It’s also lightweight and is outfitted with handy hooks, so it can be used as a freestanding fan or hung to dangle from the roof of your tent or sun umbrella.

TPG favorite: VersionTech Mini Handheld Fan — $12.99 (normally $27.99)

AMAZON.COM

Finally, if you’re looking for something cheap but reliable, we recommend VersionTech’s mini fan. It’s a favorite of TPG Director of Content Summer Hull.

This device can function as a hand-held or small desk fan. It also easily clips to bags and thin surfaces.

The fan has three adjustable speeds and will work up to four hours on the highest setting or 12 hours on the lowest. As of publication, it’s priced at $12.99, down from its usual price tag of $27.99. Get it while you can.
